Lone Star Virtual Academy Student Government
The SSA team is excited to host the first annual Lone Star Virtual Academy Student Government for the 23/24 school year! Elected students will have a chance to:
Collaborate with students to plan at least one volunteer project each year
Host contests amongst their peers
Lead the student body and exemplify the core values of a LSVA student
Add meaningful experience to resumes, college applications, internship applications, etc.
Work with staff on a variety of projects including attendance, course progress, STAAR testing, and more!
How will LSVA Student Government work?
During the month of September, the SSA's will send out sign up forms for interested students to fill out. Once those are collected, students will be evaluated to ensure they meet the qualifications to participate. These qualifications include:
Maintaining good attendance standing
On pace and passing all courses
Attentive during live lessons
Once students have been evaluated, they will then have the opportunity to campaign for an elected position on the student government board. Campaigns may include a slideshow, video, or digital poster or doc that outlines why they feel they will be the best candidate for their desired position. Campaign materials will then be presented to the student body to view, and students will then fill out an election form to vote for the applicants they feel will best serve the student body!!
The sign up form will be available September 29th, 2023-October 30th, 2023. A review meeting will take place on November 8th for qualifying students to go over campaign policies and procedures. Campaigning will take place between November 13th-16th. Election day will be November 17th!
Election winners will be announced after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Further instructions will be sent out at the beginning of the school year!!!
