Welcome!

Welcome to Middle and Secondary School Methods in Science Education , in its new online learning format!

All children come into the world full of passionate curiosity about the world, how it works, and how to create new things. More than anything else, it is the role of the science teacher to nurture this passion.

Science education, while aiming to teach observations (facts) and theories about the natural world, perhaps more importantly needs to teach scientific thinking- understanding the world in terms of testable hypotheses that need to be supported by evidence gathered by independent observers. Engineering design complements this by using science and technology to create solutions to human problems. And like the arts( with which both science and engineering bear a close relationship) doing science and engineering involves a mix of careful observation and experimentation, combined with a search for explanation and aesthetic beauty.

What is Science? How does it relate to technology, engineering, and math?
