School Book Scheme

School Textbooks for 2020/21

In keeping with the guidelines set out by the Department of Education, particular care needs to be taken around the distribution of school books. In St. Dominic's College we are delighted to provide a Book Rental Scheme for all our students. This is a scheme that is partly subsidised by the DES - we receive a capitation payment of €39 per student each year to run the scheme. Unfortunately, most new JC and LC textbooks cost more than €30 each and so we have to ask parents to contribute towards the cost of textbooks each year.

We will have a very robust system in place for students to collect their books. As soon as we have the details worked out, we will update this section of the site.

This year, more than ever, it is critical that students have access to their own textbooks as students will not be in a position to share textbooks or resources. We know that many parents are in difficult financial positions and that is why we have been texting out the information about book payment installments since March and April. Any parent that will experience difficulty paying for the book scheme should contact the school as soon as possible and we will discuss how we can work out a manageable payment arrangement. It is still the school policy that no textbooks will be released until full payment is made.
