Information for New Students & Parents

Incoming 1st Year Information Meeting 19.05.20

Incoming First Year Information Meeting

This is a copy of the presentation from last year's information meeting held online on 19th of May 2020.

The main point we want for new students and families to take home from this initial meeting is that there are lots of supports available to help students become comfortable and feel that they are part of the St. Dominic's College school community.

Subject Choice Video

Incoming 1st Year Students will choose to study one modern foreign language - either Spanish or French.

They will also choose two optional subjects to study from Science, Business, Home Economics, Music and Art.

In April, please watch our subject choice video and fill in the form below indicating your subject choice preferences.

Pick 1 Modern Foreign Language (Spanish / French)

Rank the Optional Subjects (Art / Science / Business / Home Economics / Music) from 1 to 5 where 1 is your most preferred subject choice and 5 is your least preferred subject choice.

Entrance Assessment

All students who have been enrolled in St. Dominic's College for 1st Year 2021 will be invited to complete some entrance assessments. These are not tests and have no impact at all on what class a student will go into in September.

The purpose of these aptitude, literacy and numeracy assessments are to see what way your daughter learns best. With this information we can know how to teach her best so she will be happy and learn well in school!

For any specific queries on the assessments we carry out, please contact our Career Guidance Counsellor, Ms. Keeler, ckeeler@stdominicsballyfermot.com or our Special Education Needs Coordinator, Ms. Mullen, smullen@stdominicsballyfermot.com .
