Social Studies content lessons are integrated with ELA/Reading and
Writing Learning Standards with a focus on the genre of nonfiction
emphasizing the following targeted Reading skills and strategies:

Compare and Contrast, Draw Conclusions, Summarize, Generalize,
Classify, Categorize, and Sequence.
In addition to our adopted textbook series, My World Social Studies -
Making Our Way by Pearson Education, read aloud books, field
trips, guest speakers, and current news including Scholastic News
supplement our Social Studies curriculum on a regular basis.
