Dear Children and Parents,
Welcome to St. Bartholomew School. Kindergarten is always an exciting year! Our learning style is activity based using varied hands-on experiences and manipulatives. We sing, dance, exercise, and play games. Like the older students, you attend weekly classes in Computer, Art, Music, Spanish, and Physical Education. You will enjoy special times on the playground with your friends.
Besides using workbooks that will help you learn many new things, our rooms are filled with storybooks, puzzles, blocks, cars, beads, housekeeping items, markers, play dough and plenty more. But the best part of our classroom is YOU!
Each Kindergarten student will need the following items:
Two sturdy folders with pockets on the bottom
A non-rolling bookbag (large enough to fit the folders)
A special coloring book
A box of tissues
A roll of paper towels
A Package of Elmer’s Gluesticks
A Supply of #2 Pencils Primary Size
2 Boxes of Crayola 24 count crayons
2 Plastic Pencil boxes to hold their supplies
Play Dough Tubs
10 Count Markers
Primary Writing Journal/Notebook
You may also wish to have the following supplies at home: crayons, pencils, glue stick, safety scissors. You may be asked to provide additional crayons, pencils, and glue sticks as your child uses their supply.
As a summer reading project, please read any alphabet book (example: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom) with your child. Have your child make a simple poster and decorate it with pictures (photos, magazine, web, etc.) of things that they find that begin with the same letter as the first letter of their first name. For example, if your child’s name is Grace, maybe they would include a picture of grapes and a goldfish.
We look forward to seeing you in September! Until then, have a great summer!!
Sincerely,
Your Kindergarten Teachers
The mission of Saint Bartholomew School is to love, educate, and inspire our children to live the teachings of Jesus Christ.
