Here is a look at some of the material we will cover this week:
Religion: This week we will focus on lesson 8: God Helps Us Discover. In these lessons, the children will learn that God helps them to discover His world by giving them the gift of the Five Senses.
English Language Arts (ELA): We continue this week our Wonders Reading Curriculum- Unit 1, Week 3. Our letter of the week is Ss. Our new High Frequency Word is 'see'. In Grammar, we will continue to learn all about Nouns. This is how I plan our week-Monday= we focus on the correct letter formation, Tuesday=the sound the letter makes and words that begin with our letter of the week, Wednesday=we focus on the High Frequency word of the week, Thursday= Grammar Focus, and on Friday we have a review day. Homework will reflect what we have completed for classwork that particular day. Our first ELA Exam will be this Friday. It will have three sections: 1) Reading Comprehension Questions 2) Letter Sounds: M, A, and S 3) Sight Words: I, the, can, we, & see.
Math: This week on Tuesday, we will have our Math Topic 3 Exam. A review homework will be sent home on Monday to use as a study guide. On Wednesday, we begin Topic 4: Compare Numbers 0 to 10. Topic 4 focuses on comparing numbers 0 to 10. Students use the concepts of "greater than", "less than", "equal", and "not equal" to compare groups of objects and numbers. We will complete lessons 4.1 and 4.2 this week and have a review on Friday.
Social Studies: Our next Unit of Study will be on Thanksgiving starting this week. This mini unit covers concepts related to the First Thanksgiving. From the voyage in 1620 from Europe to New England, this mini unit covers life on The Mayflower, pilgrim life after settlement, a look at the Wampanoag tribe & their contributions to the first Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving then vs. Thanksgiving now, and a bonus lesson on giving thanks and gratitude.
Science: This week, the students will listen and explore to identify and describe the 5 senses. These lessons tie in nicely to our Religion and ELA lessons that we will focus on this week.
I am looking forward to a very educational and fun-filled week of learning! Let's have a wonderful week together!!
May God Bless You Always in All Ways,
Mrs. Maneri
