Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) is a statutory aspect of the new curriculum and is included within the Health and Wellbeing AoLE as well as being part of the cross cutting themes across all learning. Areas to consider is the use of the correct terminology and earlier introduction for some aspect of learning.
RSE will be introduced to our pupils through:-
Circle time activities
Jigsaw Health and Wellbeing weekly whole school lessons (Online Resource)
Story books
Curriculum areas and across topic related sessions e.g. Science, RE ….
SEAL PSE activities
Values Education discussions
Time to Talk sessions available to all pupils
Additional support groups e.g. ELSA, Nurture etc
Informally as opportunities arise in the classroom
Local Authority Guidance notes on SRE
RVE enables pupils to experience and understand their rights, opinions, viewpoints and reflect on those of others.
At St Athan Primary school we teach RVE through:-
