Hosted by the Office of Process Improvement, this challenge celebrates creative fixes from every corner of #TeamCDOT—because no idea is too big or too small to make a difference. Judging Criteria
Originality – How new is it to CDOT?
Transferability – How likely is it to be used by other areas?
Conservation of Resources – How much time or money does it save?
Organizational Impact – How will it impact performance?
Submission Requirements
Must be a current employee at CDOT.
Submissions must be made during the open submission period:
Current Challenge accepting until June 30, 2026.
Innovations submitted anonymously will be accepted but ineligible for awards.

Outstanding
Tool Improvement
Tools fabricated or modified to improve efficiency, safety, or reduce cost.
Outstanding
Business Improvement
Efforts resulting in improvements for transportation users or internal operations.
Outstanding
Productivity Improvement
Innovations that improve office and field processes, materials and products.
Outstanding
AI
Improvement
AI innovations that decrease time, improve quality or safety, and/or reduce cost.
NEW for FY26
People's Choice
Award
The innovation that receives the most votes from employees across the department.
