Program Description:

You Call the Shots is an interactive, web-based immunization training course. It consists of a series of modules that discuss vaccine-preventable diseases and explain the latest recommendations for vaccine use. Each module provides learning opportunities, self-test practice questions, reference and resource materials, and an extensive glossary. This fifth module in the series discusses influenza disease and its related vaccines.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:

• For influenza, describe this disease, including the causative agent.

• For influenza, list the groups at the highest risk.

• For influenza, identify those for whom routine immunization is recommended.

• For influenza, describe the characteristics of the vaccine used to prevent this disease. (Characteristics may include schedule, contraindications, and/or adverse reactions.)

• Locate current immunization resources to increase knowledge of the team’s role in program implementation for improved team performance.

• Implement disease detection and prevention health care services (e.g., smoking cessation, weight reduction, diabetes screening, blood pressure screening, immunization services) to prevent health problems and maintain health.
