For a post COVID-19 condition, unspecified, like Long COVID, use code DX U09.9. Add other codes for conditions related to the COVID-19 infection, like R50.9 for fever.
For a current COVID-19 infection, use code DX U07.1. Don't use code DX U09.9.
For a current COVID-19 infection and conditions from a previous COVID-19 infection, use code U09.9 with code DX U07.1. Add other codes for conditions related to the COVID-19 infection, like R06.02 for shortness of breath.

In January 2022, CMS began posting new weekend staffing and staff turnover measures on Care Compare (CMS memorandum QSO 22-08-NH). These measures will be included in Nursing Home Five Star Quality Rating System methodology starting with the July 2022 Care Compare refresh.
Previously, it was possible to improve the overall Five-Star score with a Staffing Rating of either four or five stars. However, CMS will now require a Staffing score of five stars to improve a SNF’s overall Five-Star score.
CMS is changing how Five-Star Staffing Ratings are calculated. In addition to the current two measures, of the registered nurse (RN) and total nurse hours per resident per day, CMS has added four new staffing data points methodology to calculate the Five-Star Staffing Rating:
Total Nursing Adjusted HRD for weekend days
The percentage of total nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, LVNs, Nurse Aids, Medication Aids/Technicians) who left the SNF over a 12-month period
The percentage of RNs who left the SNF over a 12-month period
The number of administrators who left the SNF over a 12-month period
Each nursing home's performance on the staffing measures is converted to points, then summed and compared to thresholds to determine the staffing star rating. Additionally, to emphasize the importance of staffing, one star will no longer be added to the overall rating of nursing homes that have a four-star staffing rating. Rather, only nursing homes with a five-star staffing rating will be rewarded with an increase in their overall star rating.
Refer to the Nursing Home Five-Star Quality Rating Technical Users' Guide for more details on the staffing rating methodology, how to minimize falling stars, and overall success with PBJ compliance.
Review your data by August 15, and contact CMS if you have questions about your scores. The data will be published on the Care Compare webpage and in the Provider Data Catalog in October.
