Are you new to the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS)? Have you just started using the NYSSLS in your classroom? Are you wondering where to get started in planning? The Wonder of Science website has many resources related to the Next Generation Science Standards. Resources include phenomena, unit planning, and assessments. I have participated in workshops facilitated by Paul Andersen and have learned a lot about the NGSS. In addition, I have had the opportunity to use the resources shared on the website to develop learning sequences with other teachers.
Have you ever wanted to allow students to ask questions to scientists? Skype a Scientist is a program that allows students to get to know a real scientist without leaving the classroom. Students can interact with a number of scientists from various fields. Visit the website to learn more about how you can have a scientist interact with your students today!
New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards Implementation Roadmap: Did you know that New York State had an implementation roadmap for the new science standards? At a recent EdTech conference I learned that most people still don’t know about this resource from the state. This is a great time to get involved and become an advocate or just to read up on all of the changes coming in science education.
