Preparing for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8th, 2024, a total solar eclipse will be visible throughout NYS for the first time in almost a century. Using 2017’s total solar eclipse as a guide, schools both inside & outside the eclipse path will need to be prepared for infrastructure issues, safety concerns, & educational opportunities. Every single person in NY will have the opportunity to view the eclipse, with 4 million+ New Yorkers inside the line of totality. To help our learners make the most of the eclipse, we want to help schools get students prepared so they can witness the once-in-a-lifetime moment.
