Hi, I'm Megan, the face of most of the emails you get sent about the newspaper. I'm currently studying maths, physics and German at A level (although I did get an AS in English Lit last year!) and next year at university I'm going onto study astrophysics with a year abroad in Germany. I believe I've always straddled the line between humanities and STEM, and I think this defines a large part of me. Although I love the logic and problem-solving of STEM subjects, I also hold a strong passion for the arts; literature and acting in particular. In my articles, I aim to focus on the intersection between these two very crucial parts of humanity. I believe science can be as magical, as philosophical, and as moving as the experiences we gain through humanities, and I hope I can persuade everyone to feel the same way. This is why I want to go into science communication of some kind after university, hopefully as a journalist! Some of my other passions include long-distance running, climbing, and being outdoors. I also have 3 cats.
Hiya, I'm Peggy, one of the editors with the archer eye. At the moment I am studying English Lit, Politics and History. Next year I am hoping to go to Manchester to study social sciences. I love to be creative and have many hobbies including (but not limited to) painting, sewing, photography, music and more! All my articles are purely based on things I like to research and mostly come from random moments of inspiration. My biggest enjoyment from writing comes from creating emotive arguments and connections that have not been previously established. This tells me that anyone can write if they have a passion. I mainly edit the guest writer section of the newspaper and love to see how younger writers engage with the world around them. Writing can be a beautiful outlet of personality and expression so I advise everyone to have a go.
Hey, I'm the main editor of the Humanities section. I'm studying Lit, French, Maths, and History, and plan to study Classics (ancient Greece and Rome: languages, literature, philosophy, history etc.) at uni. I plan to do a law conversion in the future (for the money) and was originally planning on going to uni for law, so i can probably help with super-curricular stuff if anyone needs recs. I usually write about politics and class under the guise of a classical history information dump, but my interests span the social sciences and humanities, as well as some specifically weird maths or physics despite the fact I understand absolutely none of it.
Hey, I'm one of the editors for the Archer Eye, focusing dominantly on the lifestyle and culture section of the newspaper. I am currently studying Psychology, Sociology and media studies, and I did an AS level in English literature. I plan on studying Psychology with a year abroad when I go to uni ( Hopefully Durham if i get the grades). Despite taking a lot of social sciences, I really enjoy the lifestyle and culture section and hold a strong passion for the topics regarding this. I enjoy reading about lifestyle and looking into pop culture moments, and see the impact they have on society.
Hi! I'm one of the editors for the Archer Eye, and I'm studying further maths and French A-Level. In my spare time I like to listen to and create music and art and I enjoy writing. I like to write my articles about STEM related topics because it's a very potent and current matter that affects the daily lives of everyone.
Jessica Oakley Y12
Jess, along with a team of editors, will be running the newspaper during the 2026 Summer Term and the 2026-27 Academic Year
Hi, I’m Jess. I’m currently studying English Literature, Psychology, Biology, and Mathematics. Something that might come across in the subject of my articles is that I am very interested in the intersection between law and psychology, and I aim to pursue a career related to this in the future. Aside from writing, I enjoy singing, acting, and anything creative, as well as reading or swimming when I have the time. I think understanding each other and our motivations cannot be underestimated in ensuring positive change within, not only our own lives, but the world and every system that governs us. This is something I hope to contribute to by expanding mine and others' understanding through my articles.
Hi!!!! I’m Hannah, and hopefully next year I’ll be studying physics at university! I joined this team so that I could do a bit of something different - taking all STEM subjects I thought it would be a fun challenge to try and write an article or two to practice writing for fun and to hopefully get some of our readers in the younger years to think about science as something you might want to do in future. While my main foci right now are physics and maths, I’m also super passionate about classical music, painting, and WWII history and love talking to anyone who will listen about these things, so please do email me if those pique your curiosity too!
My name is Sapphire and I am studying Film, English Lit / Lang and Drama for my A levels! My plan is to become a scriptwriter and director for feature films in the future! My hobbies include painting, playing video games, singing and theatre! My favourite film is ‘The Outfit’ directed by Graham Moore, and my favourite genre is Murder mystery because they are the most fun films to watch in my opinion. The pieces I'll be writing will be centred around the art of film making, and deep diving into different directors' careers and influences. I hope you enjoy!
Hiii! My name is Meha. I'm currently studying Computer Science, Media Studies, Psychology, and Maths. My favourite subjects are Media, Psychology and Computer Science(I took this subject because of a character...you guys might know him....He's Tim Drake...(AKA Red Robin). The things that I write about are basically anything; I use writing as a way to express my thoughts and feelings that I can't express through words. My hobbies are writing stories, reading books(my favourite series is the Inheritance Games...), and I like to listen to music. Specifically K-pop(I listen to BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT(TOMORROWXTOGETHER), STRAY KIDZ, ENHYPEN)
I am currently studying English Literature, Psychology, Chemistry and German in hopes to study law at university. I don't really know what I want to go into for a life career, but it's something to work on. Poetry has been a major interest as of recent for me, as well as certain areas of Chemistry. Personally, I like to write meaningful narratives that make the reader think, I also enjoy powerful metaphors diguised as something simple or seemingly insignificant. In my free time, I play volleyball for the Wales Academy, I draw, I write & much more.
I’m currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I’m really interested in science, especially how the body works and how medicine can improve people’s lives, so I’m hoping to go into some sort of healthcare career in the future. I like to write about whatever interests me at the time usually topics related to science, health, or sometimes just random ideas I find interesting. Outside of my studies, I do dancing mainly ballet which takes up most my time. I can also play the guitar. I volunteer at a care home, which has strengthened my interest in healthcare and working with people and I also work as a swimming teacher working with people of all ages. I enjoy being active and helping others build confidence and new skills.
Hi, I'm Osian and I'm studying Maths, Further Maths, Psychology and German in year 12. In the future I want to be a mathematics researcher / lecturer. My main hobby outside of school is definetly reading. I love love love books! I also like writing, both short stories and a novel which, who knows, might be published one day (or at least I can hope). I'm a massive Taylor Swift fan and also play the piano with a mediocre level of skill. Other hobbies include bouldering (rock climbing), and I have recently started trying, unsuccessfully, to get better at chess
Afiyah Rasool Y12
Hi! I’m Afiyah from year 12. You’ll most likely find my articles under ‘humanities’ since I write most about literature. I study sciences and maths at a-levels, but have always had a deep interest in literature and its various branches. I like to observe the world around me, and make sense of it through writing, and poetry. Outside of writing, I hold minor careers in singing and dance, and I like to think I hold a real passion for everything I do. I hope everyone finds time to create and grow on their own terms.
Evan Lendrum Y12
Hi, my name is Evan Lendrum and I'm studying English Literature, Maths and Physics at A-level. Although it is a slightly abnormal combination of options, I find it quite enjoyable as their differences, particularly the English, makes sure everything I study doesn't feel too repetitive. The subjects I generally enjoy to study are humanities based, which I personally feel force me to think critically and are always quite engaging in lessons. Currently in the future I'm planning to study law at university because from what I'm aware of it is a very interesting course to take, and something I would enjoy to study. I like writing and reading in general but wouldn't particularly say that there is a specific area which I focus around. Typically I write about things which I take an interest in as a topic and want to explore to a greater detail. Outside of school I play tennis which takes up lots of time due to training hours. I compete at an international level which also means I sometimes have to travel and take time off school which is fun. Apart from that I also enjoy following lots of other sports, watching TV and writing/reading in my spare time.
Isobel Fisher Y12
Hi! My name is Izzy and I absolutely love to read. Something about the whimsical characters and breathtaking lands you can get swept away to with the turn of a page captivates me. I enjoy both fiction and non fiction and I truely believe that I wouldn’t be the individual I am today without this love of literature. I am a Year 12 student currently studying: Sociology (my fave), Psychology, Religious Studies and German (if you can’t tell- I’m an essay girlie) and through these subjects, I have learnt so much about myself and the world around me. I am hoping to study social sciences after sixth form, and eventually, maybe even publish a novel or two! For fun, I love to listen to music (currently loving 2000s rock) and crocheting. I’m also a keen bodyboarder (though, if it’s too chilly I get my roller skates out instead!) I am also partial to a good musical with some of my favourites being Legally Blonde, Sunset BLVD, and The Lion King. From time to time, I love to write about all things people; how they behave, what they think, how they create a functioning society, and what is their purpose! So, if you find people as interesting as I do, read my article; you might just learn something new!
Hannah Lawrence Y12
I am currently studying maths, further maths and physics for A level. These subjects are so fascinating to me because I enjoy learning about the complex laws that make up our universe. After Sixth Form I want to get a degree in physics so that I can become a medical physicist. This career appeals to me because it was my former ambition to be a doctor and this job combines physics with also being able to help people. Furthermore, I love musical theater, singing and being in shows. My other hobbies include running and rowing because I enjoy working as a team to achieve a common goal.
Caleb MacRae Y12
