I’m Eleanor. The subject of my passion for reporting revolves around social issues and the ways in which they can affect all individuals' daily lives. I love researching overshadowed issues and having the opportunity to learn about ways that I can help others in difficult circumstances and bring more attention towards the problem at hand. When I am not writing, I spend any extra time I have reading and I love exploring different genres to find a new favourite author to admire. I admire how writers are able to completely transform a person’s perception and their literature helps me to broaden my mind. I hope that by joining the Archer Eye I will be able to uncover the lesser known issues of today.
Hey, I’m Millie. When it comes to writing, my interests tend to revolve around film, music and other media-based topics that can provide entertainment and education to others. Since I would like to pursue a career in film/TV journalism, I plan to write fun and informative movie and TV show reviews that cover a wide range of genres, meaning there’ll be something recommended for everyone! Aside from writing and watching films, in my free time, I also enjoy drawing and creating art, as well as listening to music to relax and wind down after a long day. I’m looking forward to writing for The Archer Eye, and hopefully, I may even introduce you to your next favourite film!
My name is Holly and I’m seventeen years old. I am currently studying Maths, Politics, English Literature and R.E. in sixth form, and I aspire to one day to study Law at a London university and become a successful corporate lawyer, channelling my love for communication, strategising and leadership. My favourite hobbies include skiing, yoga, netball and playing piano, however if I had to pick what makes me the happiest, I’d choose travelling, with a few of the most interesting places I’ve experienced including: Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Austria and the Maldives. I am an eager writer, enabling me to offer you an insight into personally familiar topics including politics, travel, sport or law!
My name is Abi and I am seventeen years old. I am currently studying English Literature, Drama and Performing Arts A Level. I have always loved writing and editing so I am super excited to be part of the Archer Eye this year! I am interested in poetry and novels, and how writers' lives and experiences influence what and how they write. I love a wide range of music and am a huge fan of plays and musicals - any kind of theatre really. I tend to write about what I feel at the time so I have no specific genre. I am hoping help keep this writing community alive and collaborate across year groups.
Hello!! I’m Francesca and I like listening to music, reading and writing. My favourite artists at the moment are Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan and The 1975. I love going to concerts and attended The 1975 last year which was amazing!! My love of writing came about in year nine English with Mrs. Sheldon, until then I had found I didn’t really like any subjects in school but from then I have absolutely adored English. So much so that I hope to pursue a career in Journalism which is one of the reasons that made me want to join the Archer Eye. I would describe my personality as bubbly and loud but I am quite shy when first meeting people.
Hi! My name is Ruby Redford and I am in Year 13. I’m taking Chemistry, Biology and Maths, and I’d say my favourite subject is Chemistry, despite popular opinion. I’m hoping to study Biochemistry at Imperial College or Exeter University, and do a final year studying abroad (hopefully somewhere warm and sunny). When I’m not preoccupied with chemistry, I spend most of my time doing some sort of music. I’m in the Cardiff Youth Band which rehearses and competes in championships frequently, but I also love playing the guitar, piano and drums, which is a welcomed break from ionic compounds and structural isomerism. I’ve loved writing my first article for the newspaper as it allows me to break down and fully understand what I’m really talking about, and not just answer questions in an exam paper. I also love being able to share what I’m interested in with others, and hope that I can show that the sciences aren’t just the boring subjects many believe them to be, and can actually be super interesting and rather exciting.
Hello! I’m Millie and I am currently studying English Literature, Mathematics, Psychology, and Biology for my A-Levels. I would say my favourite subject of all time is psychology and I’m really looking forward to continuing my studies in this area. I’m going to be doing most of my pieces around psychology, but I’m also part of Vale Youth Council and feel really passionate about young people being able to find their voices and understand that despite age, we must be considered and consulted on how we feel about where we live and matters relating. I’m not sure where I’d like to go to university, but I just want it to be close to the seaside. I’m really excited to write for the school newspaper because the study of our mind and our behaviours as humans is fascinating and being able to explore it a bit further is something I’m really looking forward to.
I'm Lils. I will be writing a series of articles throughout the year regarding a range of topics that relate to my personal interests. Firstly, I am an aspiring lawyer, which has provoked my interest in political and social issues therefore I will aim to write articles featuring current affairs. However, my columns will mainly feature light-hearted articles on fashion, news and entertainment, as one of my passions is the media and how important it is in our modern-day society. I am looking forward to writing interesting and vibrant articles which will hopefully attract more people to become involved in the exciting world of the media and journalism.
Hi, my name is George, I am in year 13 and I study English, Maths and Media Studies. My interests are Music, Films and Traveling and I plan on taking a gap year once I finish sixth form.
Greetings, I am Naomi a reporter for the Archer Eye. Very much the introvert, I conform to the stereotype of reading too many books, in the crime, fantasy, thriller, and dystopian genres – though not all at once. Some of my favourite book series include Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia, as well as almost anything written by Agatha Christie. Despite taking A-Level Film and Media Studies, I don’t watch many films. Although I will say that I have a soft spot for ripping “well acclaimed” book adaptations into little pieces. When I am not reading or watching films, I’m probably drowning in my coursework and essay-based subjects – which I do enjoy, to a large extent. I sometimes think that, perhaps, pursuing your own interests and passions creates a fulfilling life – an excuse that can also result in one ignoring deadlines and homework, but that’s a minor detail. Even though my motivation fluctuates, on a daily basis, I am constantly inspired by the natural world, my friends, and my family. I hope that my articles might inspire people to enjoy and appreciate the Creative Arts more.
Hello my name is Josh and I am interested in history and political philosophy. Enjoy whatever you read.
Hi, my name is Ella Prosser and I’m currently in Year 13. I’m studying English Literature, Media Studies and French and hope to continue my studies in English Literature at either Bristol or Birmingham University. I would also love to do a year abroad in France at uni to develop my language skills as well as immersing myself in the culture. In saying that, my favourite destination I have been has got to be NYC! Me and mum visited a couple of years ago and we're going back this year (per my request of course). What I loved was the city life as well as learning about all the history and culture in different parts of the city. In my spare time I love to spend time with my friends and family or either go for walks. I also enjoy reading lots… which is what I hope to base my articles on. What I love about reading is interpreting the text in so many ways, so I plan to be writing book reviews for each article. I’d love to influence people to read some of my favourite books, new and old.
Hi, I’m Maddie and I’m a writer for the newspaper! I’m currently in year 13, studying English Literature, Psychology and Biology. I would say my favourite is Psychology, as I find it so fascinating, and I’m hoping to base my articles around the studies and sciences of the mind. I’m really excited to be able to share what I’m interested in with others! In my free time, I love to be super sociable and spend time with my friends and family. My hobbies also include horse riding and travelling to new places. I’ve had a passion for horse riding since I was young and presently I’m a member of Cardiff and Vale riding club, competing with my horse Bracken in all disciplines, from showjumping to dressage. My favourite destination I have travelled to would have to be New York, as I loved the excitement and history of the city. And my dream destination is warm and sunny Australia, which I’m hoping to visit in a year out from Uni.
