They will present on building student resilience through mistake making.

Toni Ferens from Takapuna Grammar School will provide some insight into wellbeing at Takapuna Grammar, along with useful strategies to foster positive wellbeing in your school.

As Dr Harry Chasty said: "If they don’t learn the way we teach them, can we teach them the way they learn?” Creating a dyslexia friendly classroom means connecting every student to the learning experience through looking at ways to facilitate engagement; inclusive practice, and promoting success for all learners. This presentation will give you information about how this could be done in your class and ideas for what can be used to increase your understanding of students who may exhibit Dyslexic tendencies.

Robin Kydd and Tom Hackshaw are both from Takapuna Grammar School's Art and Technology Departments. They will present an exhibition of objects and artworks made by their students using new technological tools. This session will feature demonstrations of how to create using the technologies found in Takapuna Grammar's new Te Wāhi - Makerspace.

The impact and value of cultural knowledge in the curriculum for all students.

Jenny works at Health Education as a teacher educator, PLD Facilitator and Resource developer. Her workshop will explore how a student learning activity, featuring the HPE learning area concept of hauora, could be used as formative assessment and as a source of student voice to inform subsequent planning in health education.

Lauren is HOD of Takapuna Grammar's Performing Arts Department and Jacob teaches music and conducts a number of Grammar's choir groups. This session will present some ways to incorporate music into your lessons. Lauren and Jacob will be modelling 'mini lessons' which you can use to break up your day, solidify learning, or simply to have some fun.
