Do I need prior experience with VR or AR? Or experience with the law? How do I prepare for the conference?

No, this is designed to help provide background knowledge for academics working in other areas. Hardware tutorials will be provided and a tour of Stanford's Virtual Human Interaction Lab is available.

Similarly, industry and civil society members can learn from legal speakers about emerging and foreseeable issues coming from XR.

The weather is bad. Is this still happening?

Yes, the symposium is still on. Virtual speaker and attendee participation should help with any travel-related delays.

Who is this conference for?

The conference is open to industry, academics and civil society.

Where is the conference located?

It is on the Stanford University Campus, in the Jen-Hsun Hwang Engineering Center, room 300 (the Mackenzie Room).

I can't attend in-person anymore. How do I update my attendance to virtual?

Attendees will be emailed the link for Zoom attendance. The conference will also be streamed and recordings will later be available.

Why is the tour of the lab limited to only 20 people?

COVID-19 safety measures require us to take a limited number of people into the closed space.

What will this conference result in?

Speakers have been invited to contribute 20-25 page/10,000 word essays for consideration for a future edited volume. These works will also be made available at the Stanford Cyber Policy Center's website.

A standard presentation is best (PowerPoint, PDF). Please avoid using Google slides as they may cause issues in production. Make sure your aspect ratio is 16x9. Contact bzr@stanford.edu for additional questions.
