Conversations

Beginning in the Spring of 2021, we will provide an opportunity for prospective applicants to meet with a GC or GC student within the SGC DEI AOC. We will pair those who participate with someone who may share similarities in background, identities, or interests. When this launches, prospective applicants will be asked to indicate what topics they are interested in chatting about.

We look forward to those conversations!

The Stanford Genetic Counseling Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Action and Outreach Committee acknowledges that opportunities for prospective students to connect with genetic counselors and genetic counseling students are few and far in between. While that landscape is changing as the field itself grows, we want to invite students considering genetic counseling as a future career to connect with individuals who come from similar backgrounds, identities, and interests as them.

For this reason, we are opening up conversations with SGC DEI AOC community members to fulfill that need to connect with individuals who come from the same place. Thus, each quarter we will extend the opportunity to connect with our community members for a one-time conversation so the prospective students don't feel as alone in the slowly evolving field.

***We emphasize and will honor the requests of those who have little to no previous exposure to the field of genetic counseling!***
