SharkyBot

Overview

Build a Robot (WHALE - device capable of navigating on asphalt while seeking and avoiding other WHALEs)

That rolls around on the floor.

Wirelessly controlled (GOGGLE - remote controller with sensory displays for the WHALES)

And attempts to play "Ed Carryer" (aka Marco Polo).

WHA:LE

The WHALE was required to be able to connect to the G[OG]GLE of any team. It was also required to display an "IT" status, "paired" status, team number, and an audio system. The audio processing system consisted of two microphones that were connected to an FM radio transmitter for the user to listen to the responses of the other WHALEs. The audio system also consisted of two speakers that would emit "Carryer".

The WHALE required a mechanical design that was easy to lift up and easily accessible switches to disable subsystems and the whole system.

G[OG]GLE

The GOGGLE was required to be a battery powered controller that was required to be able to pair with any WHA:LE. It was able to control and display data from the bot, play the sounds of the field, and utilize 3 different sensing modalities. The SharkyBot GOGGLE utilized visual, haptic, and auditory feedback.

Most importantly, when the paired robot was it, the controller was able to send the "Ed" audio for "Carryer" responses.
