Flights and Transfers

Please note that you are liable for the cost of your airfare in the event that you need to cancel off the program or if Travel/Study is unable to run the program for any reason. Therefore we strongly recommend waiting to book your flights until closer to departure, purchasing refundable tickets, or purchasing additional travel insurance to cover the cost of your flights in case you are unable to use your ticket.

You may opt to work with your travel agent or call airlines directly or look on your preferred travel websites for flight options. If you don’t already have a travel agent, we recommend you contact Carol Brazeau at Travel Experts, Inc., located in Oceanside, CA. She would be happy to assist you with air arrangements. Note that Carol charges a service fee for making travel arrangements.

Once you have booked your air, please forward a copy of the flight itinerary you receive from your airline or travel agent to program manager Laura Slaughter at lduede@stanford.edu. If you are arriving early or departing late, please include any requests for additional services, such as hotel nights or airport transfers, in your email or indicate if you have made your own arrangements. 

When to Arrive/ Transfers 

Arrive in Switzerland’s Geneva Airport (airport code GVA) between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4

• • • Transfer duration: there will be 1 group transfer to Zermatt (approximately a 3 hour drive and a 15 minute train ride)

    • Check-in time at hotel: rooms will be available beginning at 4:00 p.m. on September 4

    • First activity: a group transfer from the Geneva Airport to Zermatt Hotel Allalin.

Transfers:

There will be 1 group transfer from Switzerland’s Geneva Airport. Please ensure you arrive before 11:00 a.m. to make the transfer. We will schedule the exact transfer time after we collect flight details from the group. If you want to arrive early please look at the additional hotel nights section. We will also coordinate a pickup from that hotel to transfer to Zermatt.

When to Depart/Transfers 

Depart from Switzerland’s Geneva Airport (GVA) between 7:00 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 12

• • • Transfer duration: approximately 1 hour from Chamonix to the airport.

    • Final activity: breakfast and hotel shuttles from the hotel to the airport on September 12.

Departure Transfers:

We will have two included shuttles from Chamonix to the Geneva for flights scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. They will be arranged based on the final flight manifest and travelers will likely be transferred together.

If you want to extend your stay in Chamonix we can arrange a private shuttle to the airport (at an additional cost). Please contact Laura Slaughter at lduede@stanford.edu.
