Dear Rippowam families,
Thank you to the parents that attended our annual Open School Night on Tuesday! It was great to welcome so many families into the building. If you were unable to attend, we will be posting the class syllabus on the website and if you want to meet with your child’s team of teachers, please reach out to their counselor:

This past week was Security Office appreciation week, and Rippowam has 3 of the best to honor: Ms. Tina, Mr. Joe and Mr. Christian work diligently to keep our school and students safe. Thank you for all that they do.
It’s Spanish Heritage Month! We honor and celebrate all of our community members with Hispanic roots and will spend the month learning about important contributions from leaders of the Hispanic community. We will celebrate with a family engagement Hispanic Heritage Night celebration on Tuesday, October 15th with food, games and music. Save the date!

i-Ready Beginning of Year Assessments start Monday
i-Ready is a screening assessment administered to all students in ELA and Math during the Fall, Winter and Spring to show growth and inform support. We will run a testing schedule on Monday and Tuesday so all students can take their beginning of year i-Ready assessment in ELA. They will take their math assessment next Monday and Tuesday. We will use this data to make instructional decisions, support intervention and enrichment decisions and monitor student growth over time. They will take these assessments again at the midpoint and end of the school year. Students had this overview in HEART on Friday to prepare. See some key points below:
Make sure your child comes with a charged Chromebook and their charger
Each student will be assigned a testing room. Their homeroom teacher can remind students on Monday of their room.
On testing days, students will report to their testing room at 7:35 after homeroom and announcements. Please be on time.
Any electronic device (cell phone, smart watch, etc) must be turned off and placed in their book bags that will be left along the front wall of the classroom. Students cannot have access to these devices during testing.
During the testing period, students will have school-issued headphones and have about 90 minutes each session.
Bring a book! If students finish testing, they can read a book or rest - they cannot be on their laptop or talk while other students are testing.
Make sure your child’s Acceptable Use Policy and Parental Consent to Use of Online Educational Services (AUP) Agreement and SPS Technology Device Agreement Forms are filled out. Contact our Parent Facilitator, Claudia Vettorazzi, at 203-977-4229 or cvettorazzi@stamfordct.gov for help.
