Dear Rippowam families,
It was great to meet so many families this week at our Open School night! As we look ahead to next week, we extend our warmest wishes for a happy and sweet Rosh Hashanah to all who celebrate. Please note that next week will be a three-day week for students, with school in session on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. School will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday in observance of the holiday.
We will also begin iReady ELA testing on Thursday. Thank you for supporting your child in arriving to school on time and ready to do their best.
It’s Spanish Heritage Month! We honor and celebrate all of our community members with Hispanic roots and will spend the month learning about important contributions from leaders of the Hispanic community. We will celebrate with a family engagement Hispanic Heritage Night celebration on Thursday, October 9th with food, games and music. Save the date!
Intramural sports have begun and our ROSCCO after school programming begins Monday, October 6th. We’re also looking forward to our first Family Engagement Community Service Day. Be sure to check our 2025-2026 Rippowam Events calendar and read below for more details.
Schools are closed on Tuesday 9/23 and Wednesday 9/24 for Rosh Hashanah holidays
i-Ready Beginning of Year Assessments start Thursday 9/35
i-Ready is a screening assessment administered to all students in ELA and Math during the Fall, Winter and Spring to show growth and inform support. We will run a testing schedule on Monday so all students can take their end of year i-Ready assessment in ELA. They will take their math assessment next Monday and Tuesday. We will use this data to make instructional decisions, support intervention and enrichment decisions and monitor student growth over time. They will take these assessments again at the midpoint and end of the school year. See some key points below:
Make sure your child comes with a charged Chromebook and their charger
Each student will be assigned a testing room. Their homeroom teacher can remind students on Monday of their room.
Any electronic device (cell phone, smart watch, etc) must be turned off and placed in their book bags that will be left along the front wall of the classroom. Students cannot have access to these devices during testing.
During the testing period, students will have school-issued headphones and have about 90 minutes each session.
Bring a book! If students finish testing, they can read a book or rest - they cannot be on their laptop or talk while other students are testing.
Make sure your child’s Acceptable Use Policy and Parental Consent to Use of Online Educational Services (AUP) Agreement and SPS Technology Device Agreement Forms are filled out. Contact our Parent Facilitator, Claudia Vettorazzi, at 203-977-4229 or cvettorazzi@stamfordct.gov for help.
