Hi Rippowam families,
We are down to the final 2 weeks of school! This week we welcomed the rising 6th grade students from Newfield, Davenport, Hart and Toquam. Our student ambassadors did a wonderful job of showing them around the school and answering lots of questions. In our final couple of weeks, we have lots of events and trips. Stay updated with our SCHOOL CALENDAR for all upcoming school events and trips. There are a lot coming up! The current tab is May. To see June, make sure to click the tab at the bottom left of the screen.
Integrated Math Criteria and Recommendations
Click HERE for the updated criteria to be recommended as a 7th or 8th grader for Integrated Math, a high school level course offered at SPS Middle Schools. We will be making course recommendations in the coming week and will reach out to families regarding the placement as soon as possible.
Laptop Distribution has begun!
Students are turning in their laptops to Mr. Orsino. We expect some wear and tear on the device, but excessive damage may result in paying for repair or replacement. Also, students need to return their Chromebook Charger (both parts!). Students will be charged $40 for a lost/missing/incomplete charger. 6th and 7th Grade students who do not return a charger (or payment) may experience a delay in receiving their school issued Chromebook in the Fall of 2024. 8th Grade Students who do not return their charger (or payment) will not receive graduation tickets.
Rippowam Spring Concert is Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30
Our talented musicians will perform on Tuesday, June 4th in the auditorium. Come enjoy music from our band, strings and chorus classes at our Spring Concert!
Meet the Coaches Knight for SHS is Tuesday, June 4th at 6pm
Stamford High will have our annual Meet the Coaches Knight on June 4th at 6pm in Boyle stadium. Boyle Stadium is located in the rear of Stamford High School. This is a great opportunity to come and meet coaches and explore the over 30 different teams we have in Black Knight Nation. See attached flyer for more information about athletics at SHS. 7th grade Rye Playland trip - June 7th
8th grade dance - June 7th from 6-8pm (permission slips sent home TODAY!)

Field Trip Expectations:
Field trips are an extension of classroom learning into the greater world; therefore, exemplary behavior is expected. At the discretion of the administration, students who have exhibited problematic behavior may be excluded from attending field trips. Reasons for exclusion may include, but are not limited to: suspensions, poor academic standing in any subject, and poor attendance. Those students who are in jeopardy of not attending field trips will be advised of their status in hopes that their behavior/academic standing will improve. Students who are excluded from the privilege of taking field trips will be notified in advance as will their parent(s)/guardian(s). Children who are not eligible for trips are expected to be at school for academic curricular programs.
8th Grade Information:
8th grade moving up ceremony is Friday, June 14th at 9am. Each student receives 2 tickets. We will have a waitlist for additional guests who are present and will be seated if there are additional seats available. We have a large graduating class and limited space in the auditorium. We are also planning on live-streaming the ceremony as well.
School Safety Information - Student Pick up
If you have been to the school recently, you might have noticed the new security desk by the front entrance (by High Ridge). Installation is complete and one of our security team members will be there during the day. All visitors will need to show identification and sign in at the main entrance for meetings, parent pick up or any reason. Parents, please note that we will no longer send students out to cars for dismissal from a phone call. All parents must come in and sign out their child once identity is verified.
Best,
Kristina Colmenares
