Dear Rippowam families,

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  As we celebrate the unofficial kickoff to summer this beautiful weekend, may we also honor those who gave their lives for our freedom. 

This past week, our School Climate Committee hosted our first ever Community Day!  Students engaged in community building activities such as arts and craft projects, sports and games and participated in a motivational presentation by former NY Knicks player Allan Houston.  Check out pictures and video at our PTO’s Instagram:  Rippowampto

Upcoming 8th Grade Events:

1. Graduation is Wednesday, June 14th at 9am.  Each student receives 2 tickets.  We will have a waitlist for additional guests who are present and will be seated if there are additional seats available.  We have a large graduating class and limited space in the auditorium. 

2. 8th grade dance is this coming Friday, June 2nd from 6-8 at Rippowam.

Presentations to students and parents about dangers of vaping and other drugs

• Student presentation:  This Wednesday, May 31st, students will have grade-level presentations on the dangers of vaping, marijauna, fentanyl and other drugs as well as the effect on the body and brain.  Liberation Program, an organization dedicated to the treatment and prevention of substance abuse, will be providing this educational awareness program. 

• Parent/Community presentation:  Monday, June 5th, from 6-7 Rippowam will host a parent presentation in our auditorium on the dangers of vaping, marijuana and fentanyl as well as the vulnerability of the teenage brain and the warning signs parents can look for.  Liberation Program will present along with Assistant Chief Rich Conklin with time after for questions and discussion.

• Monday, June 5th:  Liberation House presentation to families about dangers of vaping (6-7 pm)

• Tuesday, June 6th:  8th grade Holiday Hill trip

• Wednesday, June 7th:  6th grade Italian Center trip

• Thursday, June 8th:  7th grade Playland trip

• Friday, June 9th:  School-wide Field Day

• Monday, June 12th & Tuesday, June 13th - district wide early release day

• Wednesday, June 14th:  Last day of school, district wide early release and 8th grade moving up ceremony at 9am
