Dear Rippowam families,
This was a busy week! We had our 8th grade trip to Boston where 90 students toured historic landmarks, learned about US History and saw a Red Sox game. Thanks to the 8th grade teachers who organized and relentlessly fundraised and chaperoned to make this trip happen, and to the PTO for their support!
We also welcomed 5th graders for their incoming 6th grade orientation. Visiting students were greeted by current student ambassadors who led them on a tour of the school and answered their questions.
8th Grade Information:
Graduation is Wednesday, June 14th at 9am. Each student receives 2 tickets. We will have a waitlist for additional guests who are present and will be seated if there are additional seats available. We have a large graduating class and limited space in the auditorium.
Lawn Signs and T-shirt orders end tomorrow, May 21st! No extras will be ordered. Make sure you order through the PTO - see link HERE
Wednesday, May 24th early release day and Rippowam’s first Community Day!
Students will be released at 11:45am. It is also our first Community Day! Students will participate in community building activities like arts projects, sports activities and have a presentation by former NY Knicks player Allan Houston.
Rippowam was awarded a Community Schools Grant
Rippowam and Dolan were recently awarded a 5-million-dollar grant over 5 years. This money is intended to provide for the planning, implementation and operation of support and wrap-around services for students and families including after school enrichment and academic opportunities, mentoring, mental and physical health initiatives and family resources. This work is in addition to the grants we already have through 21st century and ESSER funds.
Welcome to our new Community Schools Manager, Shawn Davis. Sean is a Stamford native who graduated from Rippowam and Westhill, will be leading this work at Ripp. He has a master’s degree in business administration from Florida Memorial University. Shawn will work with key stakeholders to get feedback, build this program, and monitor its success.
