Dear Rippowam families,
It felt more like the beginning of June this week than the beginning of April! We had a very busy week of presentations to our young people: The Rowan Center conducted prevention education workshops about physical and emotional boundaries, defining sexual harassment, and exploring safe and unsafe behavior for all grade levels. Student representatives from the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council presented to the entire 8th grade about student rights. Lastly, the Westhill High School Academy of Finance presented to interested 8th grade students about their newly established intra-district magnet program.
Also, the graduation dates were announced this week! Middle School Moving-up Ceremonies are scheduled for June 14, 2023. More details will follow as we get closer to this exciting day.

PTO Penny War Fundraiser for the month of April!
Proceeds from our penny wars fundraiser will go to support grade level field trips. Pennies are “positive” points and the grade level with the most positive points gets to see their grade level administrator and some staff members get a pie in the face!
Containers are located in front of the main office
Each penny counts as one positive point for YOUR grade so do dollar bills
Each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grades.
On May 1st, all change/points will be tallied and the grade with the most points will WIN! Students in the winning grade will get a chance to be entered to toss a Pie in their grade level administrator’s face.
April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month
In honor of this, student council members are working with Stamford Education 4 Autism to bring awareness to the Rippowam Community. They will be selling items at lunch the weeks of April 17th and April 24th to raise money for Stamford Education 4 Autism. On Friday, April 28th, we will wear blue for Autism Awareness.
Best,
Kristina Colmenares
