Dear Rippowam families,
Yesterday, it was fun to wear our school colors AND celebrate St. Patrick’s day! Thanks to the parent volunteers who sold fun accessories to help make this Friday very festive. Check out pictures on the Rippowam Instagram page @ rippowampto.
Parent Teacher Conferences are this coming week!
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences on March 22, 23, and 24. These are half days for students with conferences in the afternoon. You will have the opportunity to meet with your child's entire Core team of teachers at once and you can also sign up for individual conferences with specials and other support classes. You can schedule 10 minute conferences by calling the main office at 203-977-5255 and Carla, Kathy or Claudia will support in signing you up for your desired conferences. Claudia can support our Spanish speaking families at 203-977-4229.
Panorama Survey is coming
On Monday, March 20, Stamford Public Schools will open its annual School Climate Survey for staff, students, and families. Families will receive an announcement via School Messenger on Monday morning with the School Climate Survey link. The Survey will be available in English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, and Ukrainian. Click here for more information.
At Rippowam, we have been working on ensuring that each of your children has at least one (hopefully more) trusted adult in this building that they have a connection with. A connection means that the adults care about not only your learning, but you as a person. Students will take this survey during school on Tuesday, March 21st.
Parent Meeting with the Rowan Center on Monday, 3/27 from 6-8 in auditorium
Sarah Malhotra, Director of Education and Training at the Rowan Center, will be leading a presentation for parents on sex trafficking and sexual violence and its implications on our youth - specifically our students at Rippowam. She will also be reviewing a 3-part workshop designed for middle school students at Rippowam on prevention education that covers topics like physical and emotional boundaries, defining sexual harassment, exploring safe and unsafe behavior and how to report should they ever experience or witness this. Please come and participate in this important presentation. We will also have a Spanish speaking presenter as well.
“Say Something” training for all students on Monday, 3/27
Middle school students in Stamford will be engaging in a virtual training offered by the Sandy Hook Promise called “Say Something.” Say Something empowers students, in grades 6-12, to grow a community of upstanders that looks out for the safety of their communities. Please see this parent brochure attached for more information. SHP_Say_Something_Parent_Brochure_English_2016.pdf
