Dear Rippowam families,
This was an eventful week! The holiday season brings us so many opportunities to gather, connect and celebrate. We saw many parents this week for conferences and at our holiday game night! If you were not able to attend, see the description of the games we played below. It was a great night full of lots of laughs and intense competition.
Our chorus teacher, Ms. Genovese, organized an opportunity for her students to sing holiday carols for Apples Pre-K students. This was our first choral performance since pre-Covid times and it was beautiful to see the students so excited to sing in front of a live audience.
Members of our school-based support team organized a coat and clothing drive this week. Thanks to their hard work, we have many items for our Rippowam Caring Closet. We are working with the Jewish Family Services of Greenwich who are supplying us with racks and hangers so we can create a closet space where students in need can choose necessary clothing items with dignity. Thank you to the staff, students and community members who donated clothes and time to make this dream a reality.
Lasty, thank you to Ms. Correa, a paraeducator in our New Arrivals class, who helped to organize brand new winter clothing donations to all students in the class. Each student received brand new coats, boots, and other items that they needed for the upcoming winter season. Thank you to the generous community members who made our students feel welcomed and loved this holiday season.
Our upcoming week is a 7th-grade sponsored spirit week (see below) and will end with our annual Holiday Hoops game, where student-athletes compete in basketball games and free throw shots. We will also see a performance from the Rippowam Cheer team and cheer on the first public game of our Unified Sports Team that pairs students with and without disabilities on the same team.
