Updates about Ms. French’s reading class
We are continuing to cover Ms. French’s class using building-based substitutes while students continue using an online curriculum called CommonLit. Our Reading Specialist, Vinnie Laversa, has been meeting with individual students in the class to monitor and discuss progress on their work with Common Lit. CommonLit is a standards-based literacy program that support students where they are at and helps them progress towards ELA CCLS standards mastery.
If your child has Ms. French, they should have completed 14 CommonLit assignments. You can ask them to log on and see in the portal what they have completed. These grades are not synced to PowerSchool - only the final grade will appear on the Parent Portal in Power School.
The class will be graded P or F. There will be no numerical grades assigned. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me via phone or email.
Covid Positive Cases for the week ending 1/6/2023: 2
We will continue to report confirmed positive cases for our school community on a weekly basis. Our school nurse has free Covid tests available for students.
You may have noticed, but cases of flu, RSV, Covid and the common cold are on the rise. In addition, if your child is sick, please keep them home from school and contact a healthcare provider to determine the best way to treat your child. Testing may be appropriate for respiratory illnesses, including COVID, flu, and RSV. Remember, if you’re sick and need to be around others, properly wearing a mask can protect those around you from contracting a virus and developing an illness.
Best,
Kristina Colmenares
