Dear Rippowam families,
This coming Friday we will have our January Fun Friday! We will have a modified class schedule and end the day with different activities students have chosen to participate in. Participation in this Fun Friday is earned through being to class on time, having no major behavioral referrals and less than 3 electronic device confiscations.
This past week, 8th graders participated in “The Strangers” project, an ELA based writing activity that prepares them for their upcoming memoir project. Students free-write anonymously about themselves and share with the student body in a celebration of writing and sharing our identities. Thank you to Ms. Crouch for organizing!
2nd quarter ended Friday, 1/20
Finalized grades will be available in the Parent Portal of PowerSchool on Friday, February 2nd.
Schedule Changes
You may notice changes in your child’s schedule if they had quarter or semester-long classes. Students recently took the Reading Inventory and Math Inventory mid-year assessment. Based on this data, we also may change or add reading and math support classes. While changes may be surprising for students, we work to schedule each young person to receive the academic support they need. If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please reach out to their school counselor.

Final call for Boston Trip registration!
The last day to register is January 25th! Please make sure you register your child. Register by clicking HERE! Email trip coordinator Emily Hadin at EHadin@StamfordCT.gov or call the main office for support with registration.
Winter Bazaar will be held on Wednesday, 1/25
Since it was canceled for the 2nd year in a row, we have rescheduled for this Wednesday so all students can experience this event and support the 8th grade Boston trip! Students will be sent down during the day for about 15-20 minutes to shop. Items are priced very inexpensively - only a dollar or two. Students can purchase items for upcoming birthdays, Valentine ’s Day or even Mother and Father’s Day! The PTO is seeking volunteers to help set up the Winter Bazaar shopping tables on 1/24, as well as volunteers to assist students and maintain/organize the shopping tables on 1/25. We need your help! Please click here to volunteer!
8th grade hosts first Rippowam Movie Night this Friday, 1/27 at 5:30-7:30 PM
For the bargain price of $2, students can watch Puss In Boots - The Last Wish, together in the Rippowam auditorium. Snacks will be sold as well. There is no after school programming on Friday, so students cannot stay after until the time of the movie. See permission slip attached. 1.27 movie night permission slip RIPPOWAM.pdf
Covid Positive Cases for the week ending 1/20/2023: 2
