Dear Rippowam families,
Happy 3 Day Weekend! Our week ended with the Holiday Hoops activity. Our basketball teams and band welcomed students into the gymnasium while students cheered on their peers and teachers and they played games and contests.
Basketball season has begun!
Both teams started their season strong. While the girls lost to Dolan and Scofield this week, standouts include Brooke Healy and Millie Avnir leading in the points scored. The boys team won both their games this week with standouts including Kieran Blake, Landen Ferguson, Mikey Bryant and Makai Prosper. It was amazing to see the crowds that gathered to cheer both teams on.

Staffing Updates
We have had some recent staffing changes:
Barry Woods and Michele Koproski are currently on a leave of absence. We are working with HR to determine next steps to support their students.
We are continuing to cover Ms. French’s class using building-based substitutes while students continue using an online curriculum called CommonLit. Our Reading Specialist, Vinnie Laversa, has been meeting with individual students in the class to monitor and discuss progress on their work with CommonLit. CommonLit is a standards-based literacy program that support students where they are at and helps them progress towards ELA CCLS standards mastery. If your child has Ms. French, they should have completed 14 CommonLit assignments. You can ask them to log on and see in the portal what they have completed. These grades are not synced to PowerSchool - only the final grade will appear on the Parent Portal in Power School. The class will be graded P or F. There will be no numerical grades assigned. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me via phone or email.
Covid Positive Cases for the week ending 1/13/2023: 3
We will continue to report confirmed positive cases for our school community on a weekly basis. Our school nurse has free Covid tests available for students.
Best,
Kristina Colmenares
