POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SPACE
Positive space refers to the subject or areas of interest in an artwork, such as a person's face or figure in a portrait, the objects in a still life painting, or the trees in a landscape painting. Negative space is the background or the area that surrounds the subject of the work.
Positive shapes occupy positive space. The area around positive shapes, the background, is negative space.
Positive. Term to describe the figure or subject.
Negative. Term to describe the background.

Using your newly developed skills in Google Drawing, you will create a digital version of a Notan. Watch my HOW TO video link above to see how it's done first. (Forgive the mistakes!). Remember Ctrl C and Ctrl V. Remember, you can double click and get the purple dots to adjust now. Also, remember you can shift-click on each item to group (instead of drawing a box around items.) These are changes since the video was created.
