My name is Linda Belcher, and I am one of the custodians at Sunnyside. My father was born by the Rio Grande Valley on the border of Mexico in Mercedes, Texas. A year before I was born, my parents moved to Indiana, where I have lived ever since.
One of the traditions of my family is to make tamales and bunuelos every New Year's Eve. Bunuelos are like elephant ears and can be easily made at home. All you need are tortillas, sugar, cinnamon. You fry the tortillas in oil then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
