Volunteer
Parents are a critical part of TCHS Speech & Debate success and have several ways to support the team. Parents may donate supplies, snacks, etc. Parents may observe at tournaments, chaperone on trips, and/or judge for us at competitions. All volunteers and adults working with LISD schools must have an account in the LISD Voly system: https://lewisvilleisd.voly.org/index.html
Judging Tournaments
Parents are expected to help with judging tournaments. If we don't have judges, the students cannot compete. TCHS must provide 1 judge per 6 students and/or 1 judge per event we register for. If we do not supply judges, hiring one costs about $150 for the day and our budget cannot afford this. By volunteering to judge, parents save the team money and they are able to spend more time with the students. It is not hard to judge. After you make your Tabroom.com account, email curranmeyerw@lisd.net and let Mrs. Meyer know what email address you used on the app so she can link your account to the school account.

Transportation
Parents will be needed, on occasion, to transport their student to/from tournaments. These are district-located or local tournaments (Carrollton, Flower Mound, Plano)
Booster Club
A Booster Club for the TCHS Speech & Debate team is something that would greatly help with the morale and most especially with team expenses. We have had great success with hard-working parents helping the team to establish relationships with the local Domino's and Raising Cane's restaurants this past year. However, we need parents to create/drive fundraisers to help with team expenses. We made some headway with establishing the groundwork for a Booster Club, but needed more parent participation for us to have a formal Club for TCHS S&D. We will continue to pursue establishing a Booster Club for the team in 2024-25.
