The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is structured similarly to the SAT®, has the same sections and timing, and measures the same Reading and Writing and Math skills students learn in the classroom. It serves four purposes:

• Allows students to compare their academic abilities with other college-bound students at their specific grade level.

• Familiarizes students with the SAT.

• Shows the student areas on which he/she may need to concentrate additional preparation before taking the SAT.

• Allows college-bound juniors to compete for National Merit Scholarships

Students enrolled in 11th grade at a campus in Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) are eligible to participate in PSAT/NMSQT testing at LISD campuses. The 2026-2027 registration window is August 17th – September 4th, 2026, until 4:00 p.m. Students will be unable to register after the registration deadline.
