LISD sets guidelines and protocols in offering students the opportunity to study privately on their instrument. We enthusiastically encourage private instruction with Forestwood MS Band recommended private lesson staff. Private lessons address individual student needs and help students avoid the natural frustration associated with learning a new skill. Students studying privately tend to enjoy more regular progress than students without private instruction.
Students are offered one 30-minute lesson each week either before or after school, or during the student's band class. On occasion, 60-minute lessons are also available before and after school. Lesson cost is $24 for a 30-minute lesson. Within 5-7 days of completing this form (usually much sooner), the adult listed is contacted (usually via email) by the lesson instructor to schedule the specific lesson time.
It is recommended that lessons are paid for in advance, at the beginning of each month. Electronic payments are encouraged, when paying by check please make payable to the instructor. Please understand private instructors make a living teaching our students. It is required the adult and student give a minimum of 24 hours notice in order to be excused from a lesson. Less than 24 hour notice, you will be charged/required to pay for the unexcused lesson absence. Thanks to a thriving band program and strong booster support, we can provide 1/2 Lesson Scholarships. By completing our FBB Lesson Scholarship Form, families in need can get support to study privately. With such support available, it is expected that school owned instruments (oboe, bassoon, french horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion) & members of Honor Band study privately. By completing our FBB Lesson Scholarship Form, our Falcon Band Boosters provide 1/2 Lesson Scholarships for families in need.
Forestwood Band is fortunate to provide this exceptional opportunity for students and parents. Private lessons at Forestwood are a convenient and economical way for your child to receive individual instruction. We hope you are able to take advantage of this impactful program.
