DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Mr. Roberts is a 2002 graduate of West Texas A & M University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education, Instrumental Emphasis, double majoring on Saxophone & Oboe. During his teaching career, he has taught at both the high school and middle school levels in the state of Texas. Bands under Mr. Roberts direction have enjoyed much success at contests and festivals, receiving consistent superior ratings. He is the Director of Bands at Forestwood Middle School/Lewisville ISD. He is an alumnus of Kappa Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Alpha Chi. He holds memberships in Texas Music Educator’s Association, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, and Texas Music Adjudicator's Association.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Ms. Ueno is in her 9th year of teaching at Forestwood Middle School. She holds degrees in Music Education and Mathematics from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, she studied flute with Mary Karen Clardy and performed with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Green Brigade Marching Band. She is an alumnus of Mu Phi Epsilon and holds membership in the Texas Music Educators' Association.
FMHS CLUSTER PERCUSSION DIRECTOR
David Gronneberg is excited to join the incredible band staff and community at Flower Mound High School. Prior to his appointment at Flower Mound, he served as the Director of Percussion for the Grain Valley School District from 2008 – 2019. At Grain Valley, he directed three high school percussion ensemble classes; the Marching Eagles Drumline; chamber ensembles; and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade percussion classes.
Under his direction, the GVHS Percussion Ensemble and Drumline garnered national acclaim for both their performance quality and professionalism. The Grain Valley Marching Eagles have earned multiple AA Division Championship awards and Finalist placements at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional. In 2016, the Marching Eagles were honored to perform at the 90th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Under Mr. Gronneberg’s direction, the Grain Valley HS Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the Music for All National Percussion Festival in 2015 and 2019. Additionally, the Percussion Ensemble was selected as the 2017 Missouri Music Educator’s Convention Honor Chamber Ensemble.
Mr. Gronneberg earned his Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri and his Bachelor of Music Education from Missouri State University. He also spent the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2006 as a member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Gronneberg taught the WGI World Class Drumline Gateway Indoor from 2008 – 2012.
Mr. Gronneberg is the immediate Past President for the Missouri Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and he is an Educational Artist for Innovative Percussion. David Gronneberg looks forward to moving to Texas with his wife, Heather, and his amazing daughter, Lena.
FMHS CLUSTER ASSISTANT PERCUSSION DIRECTOR
Drew Talley serves as the Assistant Director of Percussion at Flower Mound High School and middle school cluster. His responsibilities include supporting percussionists 6th-12th grade, private lessons, coaching chamber ensembles, and assisting the marching band.
Before joining the staff at Flower Mound, Mr. Talley was the Assistant Director of Percussion at Wylie High School (Wylie ISD) and a Teaching Artist for the Young Musicians Foundation in Los Angeles. His students consistently place in TMEA All Region/Area Bands, Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and within competitive collegiate studios. The concert programs Mr. Talley coaches regularly receive superior ratings at UIL and regional festivals. From 2020-2022, Mr. Talley helped That Wylie Band advance to the 6A UIL Marching State Championship in San Antonio.
As a professional musician, Mr. Talley’s background spans across orchestral, chamber, operatic, and commercial music. Mr. Talley was a performer for entertainment companies such as Disney, Six Flags Over Texas, and Busch Gardens-Williamsburg. His rudimental experience includes being a former member of Virginia Helmsmen, Surround Sound, Cutting Edge Haunted House Drumline, Patriot Brass Ensemble, L.A. Marching Band, and the Dallas Cowboys’ Rhythm and Blue Drumline. He has been involved in over twenty musical theater productions as a drummer or percussionist. Over the years, Mr. Talley has shared the concert stage with the Santa Monica Symphony, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Southern California Brass Consortium, Pacific Opera Project, Brentwood Symphony, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Talley earned his Masters of Music in Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelors of Music in Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington. During the summers of 2013 and 2014, Mr. Talley attended the Aspen Music Festival studying alongside Doug Howard, Tom Stubbs, and Jon Haas. Principal mentors include Dr. Michael Varner, Ed Stephan, Jeremy Branson, Paul Evans, Jim Yakas, Chris Allen, Tim Bray, Allen Joanis, Scott Amman, and Michael Warnock.
