Lewisville ISD has made a commitment to building Digital Citizenship skills for all students in an effort to make them safe and ethical digital citizens. This is a multifaceted approach including a stand-alone curriculum and lessons integrated into the content area curriculum. Teachers are encouraged to provide additional opportunities for students to build upon these valuable skills. We will continue to add additional resources that meet the needs of the standards.

The Digital Citizenship Curriculum for LISD is both standards-based and federally mandated.
LISD Digital Citizenship curriculum has been designed around the new Technology Applications TEKS and their strand on Digital Citizenship. These TEKS include sub-strands on Social Interactions, Ethics and Laws and Privacy, Safety and Security.
In accordance with the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and its subsidiary, Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act, districts receiving E-Rate funding must provide all students with education on Digital Citizenship.
The Digital Citizenship scope and sequence was developed through a partnership between Instructional Technology, Library Media Services, the Counseling department and Curriculum and Instruction. Specific lessons were written by teams including Instructional Technology Facilitators and Library Media Specialists.
LISD is proud of our distinction as a Common Sense District, which we have held since 2020.
