Student Use

Grade-Level Restrictions
Due to State and Federal laws regarding the protection of student data and privacy, restrictions and age limits in a tool's Terms of Service should serve as a guide for determining appropriateness for student use. LISD Approved Generative AI, large language models such as Gemini and Notebook LM, are only available for 9th-12th grades.

Account Creation and Data Privacy
When creating accounts with AI products, carefully review the terms of service to understand what data is being collected. Exercise caution when connecting AI tools to your LISD Google Drive or your personal accounts.

Grading

Academic Integrity
Using generative AI to plagiarize material or present AI-generated work as your own constitutes academic dishonesty. Students found responsible for academic dishonesty may face grade penalties on assignments or tests and disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

Determination of Academic Dishonesty
The determination that a student has engaged in academic dishonesty is made by the classroom teacher or another supervising professional employee, based on written materials, observation, or information from students. (EIA Local )

PII Reminder: Students should never input personally identifiable information (PII), such as names, addresses, student IDs, or other sensitive data, into large language models or generative AI tools. LLMs are not secure repositories for confidential information, and submitting PII can violate privacy laws, district policies, and data protection regulations.
