Classroom Procedures

Teachers and staff should clearly communicate what is allowed in their classroom or learning environment. AI procedures may vary from one class to another or even from one activity to the next, but students should always understand what is acceptable for that specific teacher and task. Establishing clear expectations, along with providing an AI use statement or disclaimer, helps set consistent boundaries and ensures students know how to use AI tools responsibly and appropriately.

Grading Guidelines

Students found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall be subject to grade penalties on assignments or tests, as well as disciplinary penalties in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Academic dishonesty includes cheating, copying another student's work, plagiarism, and unauthorized communication between students during an examination.
The use of generative artificial intelligence to plagiarize material and misrepresent the work as your own will be considered academic dishonesty.
The determination that a student has engaged in academic dishonesty shall be based on the judgment of the classroom teacher or another supervising professional employee, taking into consideration written materials, observation, or information from students. (EIA Local)
