Christian Life School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarships, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Christian Life School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the hiring of its certified or non-certified personnel.
Christian Life’s progressive discipline policy includes a point system attached to behavioral infractions. According to this policy, “Students ending the year with 15 or more points will start the following year with 10 points and will be put on a Conditional Enrollment Agreement” (See the “Discipline” section of the Student Handbook). If a new student’s behavior record from their past school includes infractions that would have equalled or exceeded 15 points according to CLS Middle/High School disciplinary policies, the student may be dismissed upon enrollment or allowed to enroll under the Conditional Enrollment Agreement, which includes beginning the new year with 10 points automatically applied to their behavior record. This policy applies to all students new to the CLS Middle/High School, including those transferring from other schools and those moving up from the CLS Elementary School.
Back to School Night for new and returning families is usually the Thursday before school starts. The evening is designed to provide information needed prior to the first day of school, and families are encouraged to meet our teachers. Attendance is vital.
Background Checks are required for chaperones and at any time parents are working directly with or are responsible for students.
Carpooling can be arranged among CLS families. Please email Marcy Hyllberg in the Admissions Office at 262-694-3691 or mhyllberg@staff.kclsed.org if you would like to be on the list, and directions will be given for you to locate the directory in MyCLS.
Chapel is on Wednesday every week. Chapel is intended to provide a meaningful worship experience for the students and it is expected that all students attend.
The State of Wisconsin mandates us to report any indication of possible neglect, abuse, or criminal activity which comes to our attention. Please be assured that we respect your integrity as a family. If inquiries are ever to be made, however, it is done with our concern for the student and to fulfill our legal obligations.
Classroom supply lists are emailed to CLS parents by the end of the current school year for the year ahead. Lists will also be in the Summer Newsletter and posted on the Resource page of MyCLS. It is wise to label student belongings with both first and last names.
Communication with and from the school can come in the following ways:
Eagle News: The weekly e-newsletter to CLS families

Calendar of school events for the year
Middle/High School Office – phone calls, emails, or contact as needed
Notes/emails home from the classroom teacher

*Parental contact is highly valued at CLS. It is our desire to maintain communication with all pertinent family members. At times, family circumstances create communication gaps. Should this occur, CLS will focus its contact with the primary custodial parent. Please update MyCLS to ensure you are receiving notifications.
Christian Life School may dismiss a student from enrollment based on our academic, discipline, and attendance policies. Students may also be dismissed if a student's needs are beyond the capabilities of our staff and resources. This may include, but is not limited to academic needs, physical/mental health needs, and supervision or behavioral needs.
Christian Life School will close whenever disastrous situations or severe weather conditions dictate closing. A decision will be made by the Head of School to close the school. If Christian Life School announces a closing due to snow or severe weather, parents will receive an automated text, email, and phone call. Closings can also be found on our social media.
At CLS, we strive to support our students by providing counseling in the following areas:
Academic
College/Career
Personal
Academic: Scheduling, course planning, credit tracking, and academic support are available through the School Counselor and the Learning Success Center. As a team, we work to help students find the best pathway to maximizing their potential and prepare for the colleges and careers of their choice.
College/Career: At CLS, we have a partnership through Carthage College using their Suitable platform for College and Career Planning. This platform allows students to accomplish tasks that directly support the exploration and formation of their future pursuits. With insightful lessons and experiential learning, students explore their future goals and passions to shape them into their future reality. All students also have access to Big Future through The College Board as a college and career planning resource. Please create an account and explore the different careers, colleges, scholarships, and other great resources available through this tool. The School Counselor will also discuss individual college and career goals to find ways the school can support each student’s future pursuits.
Personal: CLS seeks to support students and provide exceptional care as they navigate school and life. We welcome any student needing social-emotional and mental health support to visit the School Counselor. The goal of School Counseling is to see every student reach their full academic and personal potential. A School Counselor helps students who are struggling to participate in the classroom successfully. If students are unable to return to class successfully after visiting the School Counselor, they will be required to go home for the remainder of the day. In addition, students with needs that cannot reasonably be supported will be referred for outside professional counseling.
Each student will be issued an ID that bears his/her photograph. ID pictures will be taken at the beginning of the school year. Lost or stolen ID cards should be reported to the Middle/High School Office and a replacement will be issued at the student’s expense. Students must keep their ID with them at all times.
Christian Life School takes pictures and videos of both staff and students throughout the year for the yearbook, social media, and other publications to promote the school.
The Biblical and philosophical goal of Christian Life School is to develop students into mature Christ-like individuals who will be able to exhibit a Christ-like lifestyle. Of necessity, this involves the school’s understanding and belief of what qualities or characteristics exemplify a Christ-like life. Even though parents may personally believe differently, while enrolled at Christian Life School, the students are expected to exhibit the qualities of a Christ-like life supported and taught by the school and to refrain from certain activities or behaviors. Thus, Christian Life School retains the right to refuse enrollment to or to expel any student who demonstrates a record of sexual immorality, drug or alcohol use, unlawful activity, cheating/dishonesty, or other behaviors contrary to Biblical teachings.
Lockers will be assigned to students at the beginning of the year. Any locker changes need the approval of CLS administration. Lockers are to be used for school supplies, coats, and school-related items only. Lockers are to be kept neat, clean, and free of writing and stickers, both inside and out. The lockers are the property of Christian Life School and we retain the right to open and search a locker at any time.
Lost and Found is located on the north east side of the cafeteria. Items remain in boxes or on hooks until they are donated or disposed of at the end of the month. Please regularly check this area and label your children’s clothes, lunch box, coat, gym shirt, etc.
For security purposes, all school owned equipment such as lockers, desks and computers are subject to random or individualized searches at any time. If a student is suspected of specific wrongdoing, the student may be required to empty his/her pockets, purse, wallet or backpack for school personnel. CLS reserves the right to search lockers, personal property, and cars parked on the school property. It is also important to note that students will be held accountable for all transmissions sent/posted via media even when done outside of school hours.
Parking is permitted in designated parking spaces. Do not double-park even for a short amount of time as this creates a potentially dangerous situation. Students driving their own vehicles to school must use the south parking lot: 4th bay (closest to HWY 50) for parking their vehicles. All vehicles driven by students must be registered in the Middle/High School Office and a free Parking Permit will be given. These permits must be displayed in the back car window. Cars must be parked within designated, painted spaces. Students are not to park in faculty areas or handicapped spaces. Any unsafe or reckless driving will immediately revoke this privilege and may result in disciplinary action.
Students may ride their bicycles to school at parents’ discretion. No bike is allowed inside the building. The school assumes no liability for damaged or stolen bikes during school hours.
Families may be eligible for reimbursement of transportation expenses through Kenosha Unified. Forms are available in the Main Office.
All visitors, including parents, must obtain a visitor's pass from the Main Office and are also asked to stop in the Middle/High School Office before entering any other area of the school.
Students from other schools are not allowed as guests. Only those persons who have been authorized by parents (and listed in school files) will be allowed to pick up students from the school.
Students from Christian Life will be allowed to invite one guest to social dinners and/or dances. When a student from Christian Life invites a guest from an outside school, the out-of-school guest must complete the permission form prior to attending the event. In addition, the out-of-school guest must abide by Christian Life School's dress code policy as well as all behavioral expectations.
Students will be removed from school sponsored overnight or extended trips if they choose to withdraw from CLS as a student, are expelled from CLS, or CLS Administration determines the student is not meeting CLS community behavior expectations. This includes, but is not limited to, missions trips, fine arts trips, local and foreign educational and/or cultural experience trips, and athletic overnight trips. Money paid toward the trip is non-refundable per each trip’s individual policy.

This includes but is not limited to: guns of any kind, anything that fires a projectile (homemade or otherwise), knives of any size or style, martial arts weapons, tazors, pepper spray, toy weapons of any kind, or anything else that can be construed as a weapon. Any individual who knowingly possesses a firearm at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone (in or on the grounds of the school or within 1,000 feet from the grounds of the school) is guilty of a Class I felony. (WI Stat. 948.605 and 948.61)
Any person who knowingly possesses or goes armed with a dangerous weapon on school premises is guilty of:
A Class A misdemeanor.
A Class I felony if the violation is the person's 2nd or subsequent violation of this section within a 5-year period, as measured from the dates the violations occurred.
All student withdrawals must be arranged through the Admissions Office. An Exit Form must be completed and all tuition obligations satisfied. By law, school records cannot be given directly to the parents. The new school must request, in writing, that such records be transferred. Here is the full withdrawal policy.
