Following on from a natural selection unit in Science, our Year Six children have moved on to some Darwinian themed reading in English. Darwin's Dragons by Lindsay Galvin is their current guided reading book and they have been honing their search and retrieval skills before writing a character description of one of the main players in the text. Close reading and character analysis are important skills which will enable them to deepen their understanding of the text and develop their reading skills.
