We are delighted to introduce a brand-new page to our newsletter dedicated to Worship and RE. At St Stephen’s, our spiritual life is the heartbeat of our community, and we want to share more of that journey with you.
Each week, this space will serve as a window into our collective worship, as well as a gallery to celebrate the thoughtful and creative RE work taking place across our school. We hope this new section offers a moment of reflection for your family and a chance to talk with your children about the values we are exploring together.
In our KS1 assembly, the children explored the word 'miracle' and discussed the story of Jesus calming the storm. We reflected on the message that faith can help us overcome fear. We also discussed who can help us when we are worried or feeling uncomfortable, and how we can show kindness to one another during stormy times.
The Worship Challenge:
To dive deeper into this week's theme, we invite children to explore one of Jesus’ other miracles at home. You could:
Create an artwork or a 3D scene in a shoe box.
Write a playscript to perform for your class during Class Worship time.
Take a photo of your creation and send it to info@ (for the attention of Mrs Blomley).
We would love to feature some of your wonderful creations in our gallery next week!
Table Talk Question:
“When things feel a bit stormy or worrying, what are the little things we can do to help each other feel calm and safe?”
"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." — Mark 4:39
This verse teaches us that even when life feels stormy and overwhelming, we can find a sense of inner peace and strength. It reminds the children that by naming our worries and seeking stillness, we can regain control over our fears. It is a lesson in trust - showing us that when we look out for one another and lean on our community, we can face any challenge with a calm and courageous heart.
