Dear Parents/Carers,
We are writing with a slight change to our uniform policy.
If your child has a sports club after or before school, please ensure that they wear their St Stephen’s PE kit for the whole school day. We have made this decision in order to prioritise learning.
There should, therefore, be no reason for children to need to get changed at school.
Many thanks for your cooperation in advance
Our whole school got together for a joyous Harvest Festival this week. We were staggered by the amazing response to our call for donations for the Richmond Food Bank. It was beyond bounteous. This has already been delivered and will be distributed to needy families from today. We cannot thank our children and parents enough, your generosity has really touched our hearts.
The special assembly kicked off with some readings from Year Six and Danielle from the Richmond Food Bank joined us to explain the work she and the other volunteers do to distribute all your donations. Then, our lovely Lauren from St Stephen's church talked us through the significance of harvest for Christians. Some rousing singing and a prayer finished off proceedings wonderfully. Thank you so much to Mrs Blomley, our RE Co-ordinator, who organised this and all our assemblies.
Year Five is learning about the Republic of Benin this term. Our cross curricular approach means our children really immerse themselves in the subject matter, thus embedding learning. Here we see them reading some non-fiction history texts in preparation for writing a non-chronological report on the West African country. Benin is famed for its fantastic and highly skilled artwork, particularly bas-relief and life-size head sculptures. These are worked in many materials, including brass, wood and ivory.

Last week our Year Four football girls, accompanied by our Sports Coach Mr Cain and Mr Dale, competed in a football tournament in Ham. Mr Cain said he was so proud of the sporting spirit and enthusiasm of the girls. It was almost a clean sweep of wins across the board, with the exception of one narrow loss. There was fantastic teamwork, with the balls really beginning to fly into the net, as the tournament progressed! Indeed, the last two fixtures saw our girls score four or more goals per match. Well done Sofia, Sassy, Isabelle, Amelia, Alana and Sasha.
