YEAR FIVE RAISES MONEY FOR FOSS

Start saving those pennies and pounds as the Year 5s gear up towards their Entrepreneur's Day which is taking place on Friday, the 1st of April! In collaboration with FOSS's Easter Fair and Virgin Money's 'Make £5 Grow.' Our Year 5s are working hard behind the scenes to produce products and make money grow!

'Make £5 Grow' gives young people the experience of starting a small business with a little bit of help from Virgin Money. The programme gives pupils an insight into how business works and helps them to build skills for the future, such as team-working, problem solving, leadership, money management and creativity. Engaging, educational and great fun, it delivers key elements of the National Curriculum.

They will be wowing us with their products from 2:15 - 4:30pm on the school playground, and all profit will be proudly donated to our fantastic FOSS team and the continuous improvement of our incredible school. Anyone is welcome to attend - invite your neighbours, grandparents and friends and support our Year 5s!

GREEN TO BE SEEN FOR ECO DAY

Our '50p Friday' Eco-committee Mufti day was a huge success! On Friday, the 18th of March, our wonderful children came dressed in green to support the work of our St Stephen's eco-committee. We raised a whopping £202! Thank you for all of your generous donations.

This money will go towards our school making a difference to our global community, our national community and our local and school community. Watch this space to find out more - we can't wait to share with you the difference we are able to make and what the funds go towards!

Mrs Tomlinson would like to thank the school eco-committee children for all their hard work and wonderful ideas!

A LOOK BACK ON SCIENCE WEEK ...

Our children had a ball during Science Week, with lots of hands on practical scientific experience. You can't beat it! In Year One, the young scientists had three things to investigate : 'Does the oldest child have the biggest handspan?', 'Which objects are magnetic?' and 'Which minibeast will we find in our playground in early Spring?' Moving on to Reception, STEM week saw the children working on their 'Growth and Living' topic. The children examined different types of seeds including carrots, spinach and peas. They discussed what they would need to make them grow and then they worked in pairs to plant different vegetable seeds into the fingers of gloves. Their next job is to carefully monitor the seeds to watch them grow. At the top of the school, our Year Six children used origami to fashion some antibodies and vaccines and very nimble fingered they were to. All in all, another fantastic Science Week.
