YEAR SIX LEAVERS' SERVICE
We have had seven wonderful years with these children, but the time has some for us to say goodbye. It is always sad when we say farewell to our Year Six cohort, but it has been a joy to watch them grow and learn. We are so proud of each and every one of them. As they move on to their new schools, we wish them luck and urge them to come back and visit and tell us how they are getting on. Good luck Year Six! As a tribute to this wonderful year group, they feature on all our page mastheads this week and we have trawled through our newsletter archives to come up with a four-page pictorial round up, starting on page eight, charting some highlights of their time with us. Thank you to Mrs Grosvenor who found some great Year Four shots for us.
The old adage 'all good things must come to an end' is sad but true. This is certainly the case for this amazing quintet. Miranda, Fay, Emma, Marietjie and Jayne have worked so hard for three years, with their fabulous FOSS colleagues and our parents, to raise thousands and thousands of pounds to make our school a better place. They are hanging up their FOSS fundraising hats for a well deserved break, but we wanted to pay tribute to their hard work and their 'can do' attitude. They always go above and beyond, and for that we are grateful. We caught up with them to find out their FOSS memories. Please turn to page four for those and a full FOSS fundraising round-up.
Mrs Bachour said: "Thank you so much Miranda, Fay, Emma, Marietjie and Jayne, your contribution to our school has been amazing. You have so enriched the educational opportunities that we are able to provide our children with. Your have tireless hard work and drive to make our school a better place is much appreciated. We are always so astounded and grateful for the work you and your FOSS colleagues and our parents put in to raise funds for our school. The money raised is phenomenal but, in addition, these events bring our school community together in such a lovely, bonding way. Thank you from us all." A huge thank you also to Richard, who runs all the social media and will continue in his roll.

We are thrilled to announce we made the final shortlist, out of 7,000 schools, for the Just Like Us awards 2024, which highlights outstanding contributions to diversity. Report by Miss Collins
I represented St Stephen's at the 'Just Like Us' National Awards for recognition of outstanding contributions to championing LGBTQ+ inclusion and challenging discrimination.
Seven thousand schools took part and we were shortlisted as a finalist. There were just four finalists from the whole country and we were pipped at the post by a wonderful Catholic school in the North of England, that also does a marvellous job in celebrating our differences. Mrs Bachour said: "We are so proud to have made it to the finals again, having previously won this award. This is testament to the work we do in our school to promote difference and teach our children that everyone is to be accepted and has equal value. We have been wonderfully led in this work by Miss Collins, our PHSE Co-ordinator. Thank you Miss Collins, you have helped us all work together to make St Stephen's a better place."
REPORT FROM FOSS - FOR FULL DETAILS TURN TO PAGE FOUR
At the end of another robust year of fundraising efforts AND WITH THANKS TO EVERYONE’S SUPPORT, we wanted to share with you that it’s looking like in 2023-2024 we have made a fundraising PROFIT of...
<<<<<<drum roll>>>>>>>>
£101,500.00(ish) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were so pleased to donate £19,500 of this to the Moormead Pavillion Project, ADHD Embrace and The Flying Seagull Project, as part of our Bike Ride Fundraiser.
Thanks to previous years’ surplus funds raised, we have been able to support the school SCHOOL WISHLIST - totalling over £115K once we include non-wishlist items. See the on page four for a full breakdown of where the pennies are spent.
VOLUNTEERING AT SCHOOL OR WITH FOSS NEXT YEAR
Thank you so much to all of our school community members who have volunteered this year in classrooms, on trips, in our library and with FOSS.
We hugely appreciate the personal time that you give up to help our children.
If you are interested in volunteering at school or at FOSS events next year, we would invite you to pop into the school office with three forms of ID for an enhanced DBS check. Guidance on accepted forms of ID can be found here.
We also ask that you visit the volunteering area of our website and read the associated policies and short online safeguarding training.
If you have any queries or would like more information, please contact the school office.
LOST PROPERTY
In the new academic year, any named lost uniform that makes its way to the school office will be sent back to the child in their classroom. It will not be kept on a rail in the school office. This will also apply to any other lost items such as coats, water bottles and lunch boxes.
From September, please ensure that all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Anything not labelled will not find its way back to its owner.
Thank you

As I’m sure you are aware, school budgets are very tight at the moment. Currently, we budget £9,000 per year on stationery. Therefore, one way you could support the school is through providing your child with the necessary stationery they require to complete their learning tasks. We ask that all children in Year 2 upwards bring to school a pencil case including the items listed below. Please prepare or replenish your child’s pencil case over the summer holidays and bring them in on the first day of term in September.
1. Pencil case - plain and small
2. 3 x HB pencils
3. Pencil sharpener
4. Rubber
5. 30cm ruler
6. Small set of colouring pencils
7. Protractor (Year 5 and 6)
8. 3 x Blue handwriting pens
9. 3 x Dry wipe black whiteboard pens
10. Glue stick
· It would really support us if these items are labelled if possible.
· There is no need for expensive or overly fancy items (ie. not from Smiggle). Please do not buy glittery/smelly pens or pencils with toppers as these can be very distracting in lessons and don’t support children to produce neat handwriting.
· All stationery (apart from the ruler) should fit inside the pencil case and the pencil case should be small enough to fit inside children’s trays.
· From our experience, not all stationery is created equally so we have suggested some brands in the links that are better quality and will last for longer. We suggest buying packs so that you can restock your child’s pencil case when items run out. We get through a lot!
We understand that this will not be possible for all families and we will ensure we have stationery for those that need it. If you would like to donate towards additional stationery, please contribute to the stationery pot on Parent Pay.
If your child is in Reception or Year 1, we ask that you donate packs of whiteboard pens and glue sticks and/or donate to the stationery pot on Parent Pay.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
