ST STEPHEN'S VERSUS ST MARY'S - REPORT BY ANNIE, PERSEY, SYBIL, MILA, MADI AND HETTIE

On 15th March our team took part in a game against St Mary's. It was a close match, however it was a very mediocre performance in the first half. After an inspiring half time pep talk from Mr Cain, Mr Munn and Miss Cooper we managed to claim back the game, ending 2-1 to St Stephen's. There was a great goal by Madi and amazing saves by Annie! Everyone played fabulously and enjoyed every second of it. We all came off with smiles on our faces.

TAG RUGBY TEAM THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS - Mr Cain reports

Last week, we travelled to Hampton Junior School to play a match in order to secure a place in the quarter finals of the borough rugby competition. Despite a slow start, where we saw our hosts take the lead, we managed to finish the first half with a 4-2 lead. After discussing how we allowed our opponents to score and how to nullify this during the second half we were much more proactive, coming out as 8-2 winners and booking our place in the quarters. Well done for showing great resilience and perseverance at all times to our winning team: Isla, Seb, Sybil, Eli, Hettie, Sam, Alister, Thomas and Freddie.

Netball league winners - Mr Cain reports

We knew when we went to Chase Bridge for our recent netball fixture that a win would secure us a place in the borough final. Despite missing one of players due to sickness we managed to dictate the game and secure our place in the finals in May, following a 3-2 victory.  We took a 3-0 lead but it was a nailbiter to the end as our opponents tried their best to level the score. However, the team held on and secured a place in the finals. This group is getting better and better and this was highlighted when we won our mini league. Huge congratulations to Hettie, Xander, Mollie, Sybil, Eli, Mila and Isla and our whole netball squad.

BOYS' FOOTBALL - Mr Cain reports

Last Thursday we travelled to Kings School for our last 16 match. Having won our league we qualified for the cup and eagerly anticipated marching on. However on this occasion we fell short, losing 2-1, despite hitting the bar in the final moments which could have forced some extra time. The boys were extremely disappointed but understood that as a group we did not play quite as well as we have been doing all year. However,  we move on and understand in sport we don't lose, we learn. Well done for all your efforts this year boys, I am extremely proud of each and every one of you -  Albert, Seb, Raffy, Oli, Aydin, Peyton, Freddie and Alistair.

LAU TAKES A BOW

Lau  class's recent assembly was a wonderful showcase of their Spring term learning. Year Five has been studying Macbeth, so this was a perfect opportunity for them to re-enact a portion of the Scottish play, as well as perform a rap, based on the famous 'Hubble, Bubble, Toil and trouble' speech. Then it was off to outer space and an update on their current science project, Earth and Space. Their performance poem for World Poetry Day was William Blake's 'The Tyger,' so the assembly was the perfect opportunity to give their parents a glimpse of their recitation. Finally, a rousing rendition of Queen's ' We will Rock you', learned during their recent rock music workshop, rounded off proceedings. Well done Lau!
