Prison Coordinator REQUIRED
SEEN is looking for a part-time Prison coordinator to deliver the ‘I AM Project’, an art therapy course designed to help self-esteem and self-confidence in female prisoners at a local prison in Ashford.
The candidate will deliver the course through art therapy which will equip participants to make and maintain respectful, positive, and healthy relationships free from coercion, violence and intimidation. They will be able to build an enthusiastic team to help deliver and develop this service. The candidate will have the following abilities:
Good communication skills with prison volunteers/staff and prison staff
Proven understanding of prisoners and their environment
Knowledge of art therapy
Experience of managing a team and working with volunteers
The following is desirable but not essential:
Experience of working in a prison
Experience of volunteering for a charity
An appreciation of the work that SEEN does
Previous experience in administration role
Willing to attend training as necessary
Essential in role:
Promote and run the ‘I Am Project’ healthy relationships course at Bronzefield Prison in Ashford for female offenders.
Coordinate with prison and NHS staff employed at Bronzefield to provide the ‘I Am Project’ ensuring at all times to work within the prison guidelines.
Typical tasks will involve (but are not limited to):
Prepare resources and materials in advance of the ‘I Am’ course.
Train, manage and supervise volunteers to deliver the ‘I Am Project’.
To undertake outcome measures and monitoring of the befriending service and ‘I Am Project’.
Train, manage and ensure supervision is provided for volunteer befrienders.
Person Specification:
Fluent English speaker with good written, and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated and resourceful approach to getting the job done
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and to work with attention to detail
Flexible multi-tasker who is able to work independently as well as part of a team
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and ideally PowerPoint
Basic numerical skills to e.g. produce client statistics
Respect confidentiality

This role requires someone to work 10 hours a week.
