Year 1
Intervention Groups - In year 1, some of the children have been developing and improving their skills across a range of areas, such as: letter formation, social skills and maths.
Measuring - In maths, year 1 were introduced to measuring. It was a perfect opportunity to explore our environment to find natural long and short. We used these in class to order smallest to biggest.
In the lessons after this, we used rulers to measure in centimeters, understanding where to place the ruler to get an accurate measurement.
Playground Structures - The DT unit for Spring 2 in year 1 is freestanding structures.
We explored our playground structures. We used all our learning from science to describe the materials and discuss if they were good or if they had negative aspects, We then used construction to begin to plan our own playground designs.
Vivaldi Spring body percussion play along - Year 1’s are excellent at reading rhythm and using body percussion to interpret what they hear and see. Here they are performing Vivaldi’s ‘Spring’ from The Four Seasons, using body percussion, while following a score!
Year 2
Dissecting Seeds - Year 2 have been learning about the very beginnings of plant life. We had a careful look inside some bean seeds and found a seed coat, embryo and endosperm.
Shakespeare - we have enjoyed studying our Shakespeare Play: The Tempest. We have been retelling the story through drama and role play to help us write our own stories.
Year 2 Rhythm Line Dance - Both Year 2 classes did this activity. Children were each given a pair of claves, which they used to follow a line dance. They displayed excellent sense of rhythm, playing their claves musically. Well done, Year 2!
