Year 5

We really enjoyed listening to a few different experiences, especially the “Story Starters” as they gave us so much to talk about and create our own stories and endings.
Geography
We have been looking at our new topic all about the country Brazil. We have looked at locating where Brazil is our Atlas’ and the key physical features in Brazil. We also got groups to create presentations on this term’s topic. We were able to research the famous landmarks, food and exciting activities that you can do in Brazil.
Arts Week
In our creative session, we looked at various animals and patterns, and we had a great time. During the class, we sketched and painted various patterns. We also drew the outline of an animal on a different sheet of paper, which we cut out and traced around our painted patterns. We had a terrific time and are eager to learn more during arts week.
Maths/PE activities
We had a lot of fun doing math exercises outside. We had to solve mathematical puzzles and complete an obstacle course in groups, which tested our ability to solve math problems mentally and collaborate with others.
Year 6
Science
In year 6, we have been learning about electrical circuits. The children have been experimenting with different cell voltages and building their own circuits.
Art Workshop
Year 6 enjoyed experimenting with a range of different media to create different pictures using ink. We enjoyed using socks, feathers and chopsticks to create different patterns on card and it was lovely to see the different styles of art that we produced as a class.
Arts Week
Year 6 have been focussing on ‘Day and Sun’ as part of God’s creation. We have looked in detail at ‘Woman before the Rising Sun’ by Caspar David Friedrich before using watercolours to recreate this beautiful painting. We also looked at artwork by Felix Vallotton and used chalk to blend colours together to create a scenic sunset artwork. It was great to see how different and unique everyone’s artwork looked.
