Year 3
Our hearts melted as we spent time with the seven adorable new-born chicks that were incubated and hatched right here at school.
Forest School - Year 3 have been staying warm at Forest School, relishing the chance to toast marshmallows by the crackling fire, whilst learning about fire safety and fire ‘washing’ their utensils if they were in the wild.
Maths Focus Week - During Maths focus week the children demonstrated caritas in action by planning and organising a fundraiser to support The Childhood Trust charity. Using their multiplication and division skills, they calculated how much the materials would cost, how many items would be needed and researched where it would be cheaper to buy from. The week culminated in dressing up as TT Rockstars-inspired robots and rockstars, participating in the playground rockout and also pieing their teachers in the face for the fundraiser. Thanks to their efforts, £120 was raised for The Childhood Trust.
Shakespeare - In preparation for their upcoming Shakespeare topic the children participated in a Twelfth Night workshop. Everyone had the opportunity to use their acting skills to bring the iconic story to life.
Stone-Age Workshop - To consolidate our learning from our history topic, we visited West Ham Park, where we had the opportunity to build Paleolithic-inspired stick huts and learn how to start and tend a fire.
Year 4
Art - Pottery - In Art, our focus has been pottery. We have designed and created our own pottery linked to objects the Romans would use. The clay was really soft and malleable. We used the pinch technique and the coiling technique to create our Roman objects.
Cookery - In our cooking lessons, we made European Meals. We planned and made each meal and dessert as a team. we used all of the utensils carefully.
Maths Focus Week - For our maths focus week, we did a Talent show to raise money for the childhood trust. We researched how many snacks we need and how much it would cost. We then priced each item to sell at the talent show. We enjoyed going up on stage and performing in the talent show.
Music - Recorders - In music Year 4 are learning to play the recorder. Year four have learnt different notes and play different music pieces such as Gypsy Song and Traffic Lights Song.
Shakespeare Focus Week - We enjoyed the Shakespeare workshop. Our book we will be focusing on in Spring 2 will be Macbeth. The workshop was so valuable as children gained a deeper understanding of the play through being immersed in the story and taking the role of the characters.
